Coaching Style & Philosophy
I am a trained life coach with a special interest in guiding young people to succeed. I believe that beginning a coaching partnership in the high school or college years can help young people:
- better understand how their ADHD affects them
- learn what works for them as individuals
- begin to make small but lasting changes and habits
- realize their strengths and successes
These areas of awareness will see them through into adulthood. During the very challenging teen years, a coach can offer enough frequent communication to help keep a student on track and relieve some of the responsibility for the family.
In coaching, we select a few areas of focus and develop clear, practical strategies to succeed despite obstacle. Areas of focus in coaching may include
- education about ADHD
- organization and time management strategies
- study space and environment improvements
- high school/college transition preparation
- social skills development
Each coaching partnership is uniquely created for the individual’s specific strengths and challenges. And in all coaching partnerships, the overarching goal is to make life and school better and more manageable.
As a trained Skoach™ Pioneer, I can help young adults learn to be more focused and productive through the use of the Skoach™ life management software. With this ADHD-friendly online tool we can create a customized page for scheduling daily and long-term tasks, enter tasks from anywhere with phone and email messages, send reminders by email, and plan complex projects by breaking them down into pieces.
