Current clinical focus:
- I provide comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations of children and adolescents with attentional and behavioral difficulties as well as learning problems and executive functioning deficits. Emphasis is placed on highlighting the child’s strengths and identifying effective and practical educational and psychological interventions to address areas of weakness.
- My work involves diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents with diverse psychological difficulties related to ADHD, depression, anxiety, family conflict, adjustment disorders, and behavioral disorders. Treatment focuses on promoting healthy development by helping children and their caregivers to better understand and cope with their difficulties through individual, group and family therapy as well as behavior management and parent training.
- I have expertise in children with chronic medical conditions and their adjustment to and management of a medical condition (e.g., adherence issues, pain management, peer relations, self-esteem)
- Case coordination is offered when it is necessary for your child to see someone outside of the Chesapeake Center. I will provide appropriate referrals and communicate directly with your child’s psychiatrist, other physicians, coaches, or tutors. I can also provide consultations with your child’s teacher or with student disability service providers.
Professional Experience
- Prior to joining the Chesapeake ADHD Center, I worked at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. for 8 years (1998-2006). At Children’s Hospital, I was on the faculty and acted as the Associate Director of Training for the Department of Psychology. I was also an Assistant Professor at the George Washington University. For the past several years, I have provided supervision and teaching to post-doctoral fellows, pre-doctoral interns and psychology graduate students.
- My work has involved treating and evaluating children from birth to late adolescence with a broad range of difficulties. I have special interest and expertise in treating children and adolescents with medical conditions and their families. Over the years, I have worked with children with a wide variety of psychological and medical issues, providing developmental and brief neuropsychological evaluations and individual and group therapy for families, on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.
